The driving test lasts for about 40 minutes during which time you will be expected to drive to a high standard showing the examiner that you are capable of coping with any situation that may arise in a confident and correct manner.

 

Before the test commences you will be required to take an eyesight test. You must be able to read a standard size number plate at a distance of not less than 20 metres with glasses if worn.

 

At the beginning of the test you will be asked a number of questions concerning vehicle safety checks such as oil, coolant and brake fluid level checks.

 

The test includes a number of manoeuvres including reversing around a corner, turn in the road, reversing into a parking bay and an emergency stop.

 

The route taken will include many different road and traffic conditions from busy town centre driving, fast dual carriageways to complex multilane roundabouts.
